Poster Series for Amnesty International

Solo Project

Tools

InDesign, Illustrator

Timeline

3 weeks

Overview

A poster series designed for Amnesty International’s fight against human rights abuses.

This project is a part of the coursework in the Carnegie Mellon School of Design.

References

I was excited by the urgency of the simple lines and vivid colors from the work of Faith Ringgold, John Wesley, and Shigeo Fukuda and felt particularly moved by Danny Lyon’s NOW posters from the Civil Rights Movement.

Initial Sketches

Initial sketches explored composition and concept and sought cohesion among the series through the repetition of shapes and typography. I borrowed Danny Lyon’s NOW slogan for my own posters.

Development

Subsequent drafts incorporated color and continued to hone composition. In this stage of developed the first versions of illustrations and played with the motif of the dollar sign ($) as a repetive element across the posters.

Final Series

After several rounds of studio critique and peer feedback, the final series refined compositions that repeated typographic and visual elements across the three-part series.
